Code Orange Levels of Ozone Forecasted for Monday, July 11th
Monday is an Air Quality Action Day!
Hot and humid on Monday with ozone expected to reach Code Orange levels, with highest concentrations in northern Delaware. Particulate matter concentrations will remain within the moderate range (Code Yellow).

A Code Orange air quality forecast for ozone is a level of pollution that can be unhealthy for sensitive groups, such as young children, the elderly, and those with heart and/or respiratory conditions. Such persons should limit outdoor activities, especially those that require a high level of exertion.

Discussion:
Very hot and humid on Tuesday with winds becoming westerly. Morning clouds will limit ozone accumulation early in the day but afternoon sun will allow scattered locations east of I-95 to reach the Code Orange range. Highest concentrations are likely to occur over southern Delaware as it will be directly downwind of the I-95 Corridor. Particle concentrations will drop slightly due to strong winds but remain within the moderate range.
A cooler and drier air mass will filter across the state during Wednesday and be firmly in place by Thursday. Sunny skies and a long day length will allow ozone to reach the moderate range on both days with highest concentrations again over southern Delaware. The drier and cleaner air mass will drop particles to the good range.
